pre-planning of funeral arrangements - a
good way to assure the funeral arrangements
you prefer are carried out without your
family having to make all the decisions.
It's not difficult to do, and there's no
"magic" age at which you should plan your
funeral.
If you are
beginning to make plans for a loved one and
death is imminent, here are
two helpful forms and checklists. Much of
the information requested on these forms
will be needed in order to obtain a death
certificate. If death has occurred, please
call 402 488-0934 immediately. One of our
five funeral directors is on call 24 hours a
day and will walk you through the steps
needed at this difficult time.
Today, many people are making their own
plans…and choosing to pre-fund the program.
There are several ways to pre-fund a
funeral. In Nebraska the law requires that
all monies held for funerals to be performed
in the future, must be trusted. Butherus,
Maser & Love offers a bank master trust
where money is deposited in local bank and
held in the depositor's name and social
security number until time of need. We also
offer an insurance plan placing the money in
a whole life policy which is accessible at
time of death to pay for the funeral.
We can offer payment plans to suit one's
budget and our counselors work with our
families to find which program best fits
their needs.
Some important questions about the trust you
use to pre-fund your services.
1. Is the money protected
against possible future medical expenses?
2. Is Medicaid spend down
needed?
3. Is it refundable?
4. What happens to the
interest?
5. Do I pay taxes on the
growth of this account?
6. Is it transferable?

much more in the future. With funeral
pre-planning, you can pay the full amount
today for your funeral and make payments to
fit your budget. Then you know your funeral
is fully funded when the need arises.
