Grace S. Pfister passed away on April 7, 2017 at the Gateway Skilled Nursing
facility in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was born to Robert and Mary Pfister on September 21, 1927 in Pawnee County.
She graduated from Lewiston Consolidated High School with an endorsement in
Normal Training. Grace taught K-8 grades in Pawnee County (District 42) and
later first grade in Burchard Public School. She also taught in Lincoln, Public
School at Capital (McPhee), Elliott, and Park for eight years.
Grace received her Bachelor of Science degree from Peru State Teachers College
and her Masterís Degree from the University of Nebraska. In 1955 she began
teaching the primary grades in the Department of Defense schools for Military
dependents in Germany, which were located in Bad Godesberg, Kaiserslauten, and
Ramstein for the next 34 years. During that time she saw the rebuilding of
Germany after World War 2. Traveling was an important part of her life and she
saw many different countries, Turkey, The Holy Land, India, Pakistan, Egypt and
all of Europe.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Magdalene Pfister,
Elnora St. John, and brothers Edwin Pfister and Charles Pfister.
She is survived by two sisters, Melinda Holcombe(Lauren), Lulu
Ackerman(Bruce) and one brother John Pfister(Sigrun) and numerous nieces and
Memorial services will be held at Salem United Church of Christ near Steinauer,
Nebraska on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
Memorials may be designated for the Peoples City Mission in Lincoln,
