Rockwell, Don L.

Donlee Lavern (Don L.) Rockwell, 75, went to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 14, 2017.

He was born February 18, 1942, in North Platte, Nebraska to Walter A. Rockwell and Bessie Mae (Hughes) Rockwell. He grew up in the Arnold, Nebraska Area before moving to Glenwood, Arkansas with his mother in 1956. He was graduated from Kirby Arkansas High School in 1960. He became a Christian early in life in Arnold. His mother was killed in an auto accident during his senior year of high school. He elected to attend college in Magnolia, Arkansas, where he met the Love of his life, Floy, while attending College View Baptist Church.

He was married to Floy Ann Leslie on June 23, 1963, and they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where Don was a senior and Floy freshman at the University of Nebraska. After Don was graduated, the couple moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he worked for the Federal Government, first for Social Security and then the Farmers Home Administration, USDA. They later moved to Hope, Arkansas, for about 5 years before moving to Arnold, Nebraska, in 1972 where they farmed for 17 years. Two children were born to the couple, John David Rockwell and Donna Marie Rockwell.

After the 17 years on the farm Don returned to the Farmers Home Administration working in Nebraska and Arkansas. In 1991, he and Floy moved to McCook, Nebraska where he worked for the Farmers Home Administration until his retirement in October 2003. Don and Floy continued to operate their small (184 acre) farm outside McCook after retirement which gave Don an opportunity to collect and restore tractors. Farming has always been his work and his play.

Don loved spending time with family and faith in God is the legacy he wished to leave to his children and grandchildren.
