A. Birk Adams, 83 was born January 16, 1934 in Steubenville, Ohio to John N.
Adams and Lois M. (White) Adams. He suffered from Leukemia and died at Tabitha's
Grace Pointe on Tuesday, May 30, 2017
He graduated from Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio in 1951. He attended
Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia and graduated with a B.S. degree in
Biochemistry in 1955. He attended Michigan State University in 1955-56.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and did his Basic Training attending
Clerk Typist School in Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas. He was shipped to Stuttgart
Germany where he worked first as a Clerk Typist, and then was trained as a
Med-Tech and sent to the 5th General Hospital. He received an Honorable
Discharge in 1958 and returned to Michigan State University where he earned his
M.S. in Biochemistry in 1959.
In 1959, while working as a Research Technician at Ohio State University's
Dental College, he started the Doctoral Program at Ohio State
Physiology-Chemistry Department and served as a Graduate Assistant in the
He married Jeanne Ann Ewing in Bath, Michigan in August in1960. They made
Lincoln their home and had one son, William (Bill) Birk Adams. Dr. Adams worked
at the UNL College of Dentistry as an instructor from 1966 to 1999.
Birk was a member of Crestwood Christian Church He enjoyed the out of doors and
was an avid camper and fisherman who backpacked in Wyoming and Bridger National
Forest. He was a long-time member of the Lincoln Continentals Barbershop Chorus
and the Nebraska Men's Christian Choir.
He is survived by son William Birk Adams of Seattle, Washington; Fiancé
Sandra Humphrey; special friends Shelli & Troy Pomajzl and their children
Cassandra, Isaiah, Noah and Coleson and many friends and colleagues.
