Clark, Oren
Oren Lorain Clark (11 September 1922 -11 June 2017)
Oren was born to Arlie Clark and Anna (Deubelbiss) Clark in Table Rock,
Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen Lou (Clark) Tvrdy, and his
brothers William (Owen) Clark, Richard Clark, and Harold (Bud) Clark. Oren is
survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia (Brooks) Clark, his son David, his
granddaughter Melissa Tvrdy, his great granddaughter Hannah Loraine Nyhoff, his
sister Betty Sprenger, and nephews and nieces.
Oren grew up in University Place in Lincoln. He attended Northeast High School.
He
worked for McGrew Machine Co. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army, and served two
and a half years with the 5th Army in Italy, France, and Germany. He was
honorably
discharged in 1945. In 1946 he married Virginia Brooks. He worked as a meat
packer at American Stores for 25 years until the plant closed. He then worked as
a
chauffer delivering cars and trucks for several Lincoln dealers, retiring from
Freightliners.
He had many interests and hobbies. He was a long time active member of the
Fourth
Presbyterian Church in University Place. For many years he served on the credit
committee and board of directors of the Amscoe/First Lincoln Federal Credit
Union.
He was an enthusiastic member of the Model 'A' Ford Club of Lincoln. He restored
a
rusty Model 'A', and with his friends in the club, he attended regional meets,
drove
in parades, and toured Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and Iowa. He loved pheasant
hunting and fishing. He liked traveling and visited many States. One trip to
Europe
included England, Germany, Austria, and Italy. He vacationed in Canada and
Mexico.
His biggest commitment was to his family and home. He enjoyed people, and
throughout his life he had many close and long-lasting friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at
Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5200 Francis St, Lincoln. Burial to follow at
Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday at Butherus Maser and Love funeral home, 4040 A
St, Lincoln, from 12 noon to 8 pm with family receiving friends from 5 pm to 7
pm.
Memorials are suggested to Fourth Presbyterian Church.
