Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Corrick, 87, of Lincoln passed away peacefully
surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 1st, after a long battle with COPD.
Mary Lou was born January 13th, 1930 in Aurora, IL. She is a 1947 graduate of
Oswego (IL) High School and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952
with a degree in Education.
Mary Lou found her calling as an elementary school teacher. She taught for
over 30 years, primarily in the McCook Public Schools. As many Nebraskans do,
Mary Lou had a passion for Nebraska football and volleyball. She was very
active, playing tennis into her early 80s. She enjoyed rooting for her
favorite players, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.
She is survived by: daughters, Beth (Gary) Loop, Eagle, NE; Jana (William)
Oliver, Beaumont, TX; son, Bret (Jennifer) Corrick, Malvern, PA. Six
grandchildren, Logan Oliver, Boston, MA; Hunter Oliver, Gainesville, FL; Lucie
and Sam Corrick, Malvern, PA; Scoie (Bill) Von Handorf, Edwards, CO and Matel
(Robert) Rokke, Lincoln. Great-grandchildren Duran and Corwin Rokke, Hays and
Lowe Von Handorf; constant companion, Jake; brothers Richard (Nicha) and Robert
Proceeded in death by husband Wilfred (W.O.) Owen Corrick, parents Allan and
Margaret Helene Campbell; sister Patricia Walker, brother David Campbell, and
granddaughter Chloe Corrick.
Memorial service for Mary Lou will be held at 11am, June 17th at Butherus,
Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, followed by lunch. In
lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Pediatric Cancer Research
