Sterns, Ruth J.
Ruth J. Sterns, 87, of Lincoln, died July 8, 2017 at home surrounded by
family. She was born on June 4, 1930 in Lincoln to Jacob & Elizabeth
(Hirschman) Muehlhausen. After high school, Ruth worked for Banker's Life
then moved to Kansas City, MO to work for the Power & Light Co. She returned to
Lincoln where she worked for Union Pacific Railroad & Western Electric. She met
Leslie Sterns and they were married on September 26, 1954. At that point they
started farming and raised their family. Ruth had a strong love for her family
and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She loved music, gardening and politics. She volunteered
at Folkways and was also a member of their choir.
Ruth is survived by her children (spouses), Karen Sterns of Lincoln, Kirk
(Mercy) Sterns of Norfolk, Denise (Preston) White of Omaha, Darla Meyer of
Lincoln, Mark Sterns of Omaha, Angela (Craig) Huxtable of Wood River;
grandchildren, Khynne, Leah, Vanessa, Kayla, Lindsay (Cal), Lauren (Hayes),
Carly, Cierra, Cydnee, & Cade; great grandchildren, Olivia, Laikyn, Sawyer, &
Blake; sisters, Bernice Buettgenbach & Shirley Daugherty both of Lincoln and
extended family, Jaime Shoults, Nicole Mertens and Myles Mertens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie; sister, Alice: &
brothers, Robert & William.
Viewing from 9 am - 8 pm Tuesday with family present from 6-8 pm Tuesday at
Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln. Funeral 11 am
Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Oak Creek Cemetery in Raymond,
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
