Dale E. Harlan, age 88 years of Hickman, passed away July 10, 2017.
Dale was born on March 23, 1929, in Lincoln, NE, to Ralph and Irene (Mitchell)
Harlan. He attended Rosehill Elementary and graduated from Hickman High School.
He received a degree in agriculture from UNL. Dale served in the Army
during the Korean conflict. He was a lifelong farmer, worked for Cargill
for 14 years, and was an innovator of farming implements and a pioneer in
no-till conservation practices. He was instrumental in establishing Norris
School and later served on the school board for 14 years. He had
over 30 years of service to the Salt Valley Water Shed which later became the
Lower Platte South District of the NRD. He was also board member of the
Hickman Area Foundation, member of Hickman Presbyterian Church and Hickman
American Legion Post #105.
Dale is survived by his wife of 38 ¾ years, Sharon

Step-daughter: Barbara (husband Randal) Pester
18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Neal Harlan.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at
the Hickman Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Hickman Cemetery
following the service.
Visitation will be on Friday from 9 am to 8 pm at Butherus Maser and Love
Funeral Home, Hickman Chapel. Please note the casket will be open at the
visitation at the funeral home, but the casket will be closed at church.
Memorials are suggested to Hickman Area Foundation, Hickman Presbyterian
Church or Norris School Foundation.
