Mrs Huffer was my teacher at LHS for Health Related Occupations I and II. She was an incredible teacher who cared greatly about her students. I was the only guy in her classes and always gave me as much respect and consideration as all the girls in the classes. She was a special , caring, amazing woman. She was a blessing to the lives of everyone she met. Thanks for all you did for everyone. You will always be thought of with kind memories and a smile. RIP Mrs. Huffer

I took a Health Occupations class from Mrs. Huffer in the early 80s at LHS. That class helped me make the decision to become a nurse. I have now been an Rn since 1986. Thank you Mrs. Huffer.

Joan was a mentor when I started school nursing in 1992. I inherited Irving Middle School the year after she retired, and I had asked her to show me the ropes. This was my first middle school and Joan patiently taught me how to rangle those middle schoolers into cooperating without them even knowing that they were cooperating! I still see her walking down Irving's hallway with her fanny pack of necessary supplies, educating kids one at a time on good health habits. I knew I had big shoes to fill! After Joan retired, I would see her at Shrine functions and it was always so wonderful to talk with her again. I will miss her. My condolences for your loss of such a wonderful lady.

Joan was the first friend I made at Lincoln HIgh when we were the only two women in the Science Department. Then I taught 3 semesters of Health Occupations when she had too many sections to teach all of them herself. I used her materials, since I knew she had developed the curriculum for the course. She continued to be a good friend after she left Lincoln High & I will definitely miss her. Le Etta
