Barbara K. Schmidt, age 84 years of Lincoln, passed away February 1, 2018.
Barbara was born on December 26, 1933, in Lincoln, to George and Elizabeth
(Michel) Schmidt. Barbara graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951. She
worked at Magee’s Clothing Store for many years as a buyer and manager and at
Mattson Ricketts law firm as a receptionist and bookkeeper. She was a life-time
member of Faith United Church of Christ until the church closed in 2009.
She then joined First Plymouth Congregational Church. She was a member and
volunteer at the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
Barbara is survived by 14 nieces and nephews, 23 grandnieces and nephews, 18
great-grandnieces and nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law Velda Schmidt and
Arlene Schmidt, both of Lincoln.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ruth Schafer and Evelyn
Schmidt, brothers George "Eddie" Schmidt and Milton Schmidt.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at
Wyuka Cemetery. A Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at First Plymouth
Congregational Church, 2000 D St, Lincoln.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Plymouth
Congregational Church or American Historical Society of Germans from Russia,
(AHSGR) Lincoln Chapter.
