McCabe, Shaun


 

Shaun Alfred McCabe, 33, passed away on Thursday, February 1st at UC Health University of Colorado Hospital after a life long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Shaun was born on April 11, 1984 in Norfolk, NE to Mark and Frances (LaCroix) McCabe. He was a member of the 2002 graduating class of Norfolk High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in from Wayne State College in 2006. On March 9th, 2015, Shaun became the first recipient of a double lung and liver transplant in the state of Colorado at UC Health. This milestone procedure presented Shaun with a new outlook on life and gave his family and friends three more years to enjoy his presence. His family is eternally grateful for the sacrifices made to prolong his life and the resolve of the transplant team at UC Health.
 
He is survived by both of his parents, Mark McCabe of Pierce, NE and Frances McCabe of Lincoln, NE, Stepmother, Lynn Weinrich of Pierce, NE, his older sisters, Erin and Janette McCabe, both of Lincoln, NE, his older brother, Patrick McCabe of Lincoln, NE and half brother, Nathan McCabe of Omaha, NE
 
Shaun’s passion in life was music. He was the lead singer/keyboardist in the band, Bone Camaro, in college, a music director at KWSC 91.1 FM and active in the Lincoln/Omaha music scene during his life.
 
Shaun was cremated at A Better Place Funeral and Cremation in Denver.
 
There will be a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 K St in Lincoln, Nebraska. 
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 K St in Lincoln. 
 
Shaun was a selfless soul with a vivid imagination and a singular sense of humor. He was magnetic and proved that perseverance is a virtue during his life. With that in mind, His family would ask that you make a donation to either the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Nebraska or the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in his name in lieu of flowers.
