Pollock, Robert (Bob) S.


Robert (Bob) S. Pollock was born December 6, 1925 in Ulysses, Nebraska to Fred and Clara (White) Pollock and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 11, 2018 at the age of 92.
Bob was a Navy Veteran of WWII and served aboard the USS Bancroft in the South Pacific.  He was a member of the America Legion, lifelong member of the VFW, and the Tin Can Sailor Association.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska and worked as a Soil Scientist for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Doris; three children, Debra Osher (Clark Goken) of Lincoln, Dr. Garry Pollock (Brenda) of Lubbock, Texas, and Janis Medler of Thousand Oaks, California; seven grandchildren Jennifer Suiter; Nathan, Christopher, Leigh Ann, and Madisen Pollock; Anna and Emily Medler; a double related niece and nephew, Katherine Pollock-Peterson and Steven Pollock, and numerous other nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by son-in-law Stephen Medler; sisters, Helen Dunker, Mary Hall, Francis Vodicka and Marial Sanley; and brothers, George, William, John, and Marvin Pollock.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church located at 4325 Sumner, Lincoln, Nebraska. Pastor Luke Schnake will be officiating.  Cremation interment at Lincoln Memorial Park.  Funeral arrangements with Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in care of family, “Thomas J. Peltin Destroyer Museum Grant Program – USS Bancroft (DD598) in memory of Robert Pollock” ( or the American Diabetic Association.

Debra, My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss. I remember working with your dad years ago when the SCS Area Office was in Hebron. He taught me not to call soil dirt. My memories of your family go back a long way.
